Original photograph by featured artist "CAPS" taken throughout travels in the Caribbean islands. This image contains such a powerful narrative and just happens to capture one of those split second moments in time where the right subject, in the right place at the right time all came together in synchronistic harmony. The photographer came across the wooden table with the words "Black I Am" written on it on a sidewalk while strolling through a busy market street. Knowing that this alone provided a "title" for a potentially powerful image, he sat on the sidewalk for over an hour, waiting for the right moment to capture someone in the right side of the frame that could hopefully fill out the image and give the shot complete context. What seems to be a Grandmother and grandson exited a market across the street and the boy looked directly into the camera which gives this image is additional strength. The fact that the boy is the only one looking towards the audience only reinforces the powerful written statement. Truly a captivating piece that we are honored to share with you and hopefully finds great homes to live in and be passed along for generations to come.
